Paitkat painting is one of the oldest tribal painting of Jharkhand. A painting that depicts the mythological stories about human life after death. The usual subject of this painting are :- flora and fauna , legend and folktale , traditional and hindu epic.

The word ‘paithkar’ comprises of two words ‘paith’ which means ‘scroll’ and ‘kar’ means who does this art. The communities which practices this painting are known as ‘ Chitrakar’ means ‘image makes’. They lived in Amadubi village of East Singhbhum ( Jamshedpur) district of Jharkhand.
